Chinese Shar Pei

The main characteristic of the breed is the loose skin and wrinkles covering the head, neck and body that are especially superabundant in puppies but these features may be limited to the head, neck and withers in the adult. The height of the hound is 18 to 20 inches at the withers and the weight is 45 to 60 pounds.

These are alert, compact dogs of medium size and substance; square in profile, close-coupled with very good proportions and a big head, though it is not overly large for the body.
